63 and still singing strong

March 12, 2011 – Happy birthday to singer-songwriter James Taylor who turns 63 today.

Taylor was born in Boston and raised in North Carolina, two places he sings about frequently. He’s won five Grammys during his lengthy career, and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2000.

Aside from recording and touring, he recently created a series of guitar lessons online.

Here’s an interesting cover of Glen Campbell’s Wichita Lineman, which earned Taylor a Grammy nomination in 2009. (If the video doesn’t start, click on the “Watch on YouTube link”.)

  1. Just listened to an interesting radio interview with Carly Simon and Ben Taylor on Howard Stern’s show. It was from 2008, and they were talking about how Carly and James haven’t talked to each other in years (since their divorce). Ben talks lovingly about both his parents, but says it’s really James fault. Sort of puts a new perspective on him…

      1. They are available under the Carly videos on YouTube. Search Carly Simon on Howard Stern. It’s a six part series.
