May 15, 2011 – Most people enjoy dessert after dinner.

Eating something sweet after a salty or savory meal sends a signal to the brain that you’re finished eating.

An urban legend claims that the practice of eating dessert began in the Middle Ages, when food was slaughtered and prepared quickly, and often turned into a bitter or rancid tasting meal. A sweet dessert would cleanse the pallet of that bad taste and help keep the meal down.

Just so you don’t feel guilty, here are five reasons to eat dessert everyday.
