Can’t they think of anything new?

August 11, 2011 – Hollywood must be out of ideas … again.

Another old favorite is coming to the small screen now that CBS plans to remake the classic TV show “Bewitched”. Marc Lawrence, who penned “Miss Congeniality”, will write the pilot.

“Bewitched” ran for eight seasons on ABC, from 1964 to 1972, and starred Elizabeth Montgomery as a witch who marries mortal, played by Dick York and later Dick Sargent. It was my favorite show as a kid and I shudder to think of what may be in store.

Moviemakers tried to bring it to the big screen in 2005 with Nicole Kidman, Will Ferrell and Shirley MacLaine. The script took a lot of liberties with the original television show and completely bombed despite the talented cast.

If they can’t come up with something original soon, I know a few terrific writers with lots of good ideas who are looking for a job. Hollywood, here we come!
