Swiss scientists break the speed of light

September 23, 2011 – It appears that Albert Einstein’s theory that nothing travels faster than the speed of light could be wrong.

Researchers at the CERN lab in Switzerland have recorded tiny particles referred to as neutrinos that they claim travels faster. Einstein proposed his speed of light theory back in 1905 and since it has become the basis of modern physics.

While I’ve never had a head for science, I find this intriguing. If their theory proves accurate it could turn the science world upside down.

The CERN researchers claim to have high confidence in their findings, but American and Japanese scientists have been asked to verify their results before they confirm them as a discovery.
