A sign of the times

August 6, 2012 – The consecutive sellout streak at Citizens Bank Park came to a screeching halt tonight, since there were a few seats available at the Phillies vs. Atlanta game.

The crowd was big, at 41,000 plus, but that total fell a few thousand short of the usual totals that the Phillies have drawn since they began selling out the park back on July 7, 2009.

The official tally is 257 games, which is still remarkable. But just like the Phillies’ playoff hopes, all good things must come to an end.

We haven’t had to use this juicy rationalization much lately, but there’s always next year. I’m already counting down the days until the 2013 season officially begins.
