June 3, 2016 – I never had much desire to visit France, but these glorious photos of the country’s lavender fields make me want to hop a plane now.
With lavender’s ability to soothe nervous tension, relieve pain and help insomnia, the people in this region must be the happiest and most well-rested people on earth. Just looking at the images makes me smile.
It’s unlikely that I’ll travel overseas in time for this year’s harvest, but I can enjoy the lavender experience right here in southeastern Pennsylvania. June is lavender harvest month at Peace Valley Lavender Farm in Doylestown, and Carousel Lavender Farm in New Hope. There’s also Hope Hill Lavender Farm, located in the hills of Schuylkill County in Pottsville, which hosts its fourth annual festival on June 18.
That should keep me satisfied for a while.
“The air was fragrant with a thousand trodden aromatic herbs, with fields of lavender, and with the brightest roses blushing in tufts all over the meadows.” – William C. Bryant
